Zeno Mainaghi

Zeno Mainaghi was an Italian businessman who belonged to the Mainaghi family of Milan.

Biography[]

Zeno Mainaghi was the son of wealthy Milan industrialist Michele Mainaghi and the brother of Bibi Mainaghi. He was seen by his father as indecisive, and he spent much of his time at parties, showing little potential as a successful businessman. When his father committed suicide during the Tangentopoli scandal of 1992, Zeno was disappointed to find out that his sister was made the majority shareholder of the company, and Zeno was instead placed in charge of public relations, planning parties and events instead of running the company. He briefly conspired with policeman Luca Pastore to sabotage his sister by revealing her attempts at laundering money in a Swiss bank account, but they were too late to stop her banker from laundering the ₤3 billion, leading to an embarrassed Zeno cutting all ties to Pastore.

By 1993, Zeno Mainaghi was forced to go to rehab due to his drug and alcohol problems. He fell in love with a nurse, and, after his health improved, he decided to help his sister with getting revenge on mobster Luigi Brancato, who had murdered their father. Mainaghi was later convinced to abandon his sister, however, and Bibi was murdered in what appeared to be a drug overdose; Zeno took over the Mainaghi Group, running it as Brancato's pawn.
