
Zarni Htun (19 May 1964-2 July 1998) was a Tatmadaw major who was responsible for massacres during the Burmese Civil War.
Biography[]
Zarni Htun was born on 19 May 1964 in Taunggyi, Burma to a family of Buddhist Burmese people. He joined the Tatmadaw and was responsible for ordering many attacks on Christian Karen and Muslim Rohingya peoples, and he was said to have killed as many as 200 people himself. On 2 July 1998 he was ambushed by Karen National Union (KNU) rebels and killed.
