Yusuf ministrel

Zaman Can (1490 - 1511) was a palace official of the Ottoman Empire under Sultan Bayezid II. He conspired against him in 1511 and was ordered to kill Suleiman the Magnificent, his grandson, but failed because he was killed by Yusuf Tazim.

Biography[]

Zaman Can was born to a wealthy Ottoman family and became a palace official of Sultan Bayezid II. After the earthquake of 1506 and subsequent signs of Ottoman weakness, he conspired with the Knights Templar, Byzantine restoration movement, and Manuel Palaiologos to remove the House of Osman from power. In 1511 he was dispatched to slay Prince Suleiman the Magnificent at Topkapi Palace while he was holding a banquet following his return from a hajj to Mecca.

Death[]

At the banquet, however, Zaman Can was distracted by assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze, who was disguised as a lute-playing ministrel. While laughing at Ezio's poor singing and strumming skills, he was assassinated by Yusuf Tazim without gaining the attention of other people in the crowd.
