
Yvette Clarke (born 21 November 1964) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-NY 11) from 3 January 2007 to 3 January 2013 (succeeding Major Owens and preceding Michael Grimm) and from NY 9 from 3 January 2013 (succeeding Bob Turner).
Biography[]
Yvette Clarke was born in Flatbush, Brooklyn New York City, New York in 1964, the daughter of Jamaican immigrant parents. She worked as director of business development for The Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation, and she served on the City Council from 2002 to 2006, when she was elected to the US House of Representatives. She was a member of the Progressive Democrats.
