Yuta Usami 2

Yuta Usami was a Japanese yakuza who was affiliated with the Hirose-gumi subsidiary of the Yomei Alliance's Masuzoe-gumi.

Biography[]

Yuta Usami was born in Onomichi, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan, the second son of Big Lo and the younger brother of Jimmy Lo. He was shipped out to Onomichi, Japan as an infant due to being a heihaizi (born in violation of China's one-child policy), and he was given forged Japanese citizenship papers by the Yomei Alliance as part of their pact with Big Lo. Raised with Koji Masuzoe and Shu Tatsukawa as his secret supervisors, he was trained to speak Chinese in the event that his brother died and he would become heir to the Saio Triad. Usami later swore an oath to Toru Hirose and, alongside Tatsukawa, joined the Hirose-gumi.

Yuta befriended Haruka Sawamura on her arrival in Onomichi in 2013, and he frequently visited her at Snack Kiyomi and deduced that she, too, grew up without her birth parents. In 2014, he assaulted a paparazzo who took a picture of Haruka at the bar, after which the two developed a relationship. Yuta impregnated Haruka after a one-night stand, and Haruka disappeared shortly after, while Tatsukawa left for Kabukicho, Tokyo. In 2016, Jimmy's death caused Yuta to become the next heir to the Saio Triad. That same year, he met Kazuma Kiryu while backing up his friend Tsuyoshi Nagumo in his short-lived rivalry with Kiryu, which later transformed into a sworn brotherhood. Kiryu eventually gained the trust of the Hirose-gumi, who revealed that they had previously taken in his adoptive daughter Haruka before her disappearance. He accompanied Kiryu to Tokyo to search for Haruka, believing that Tatsukawa was her baby's father and not him. There, Joongi Han beat him up at Club Stardust, but Kiryu was able to defeat Han and find Tatsukawa's residence, where he, Kiryu, and Nagumo found Tatsukawa's corpse and suspected the Saio Triad of responsibility. Usami later joiked the others in sneaking into the Saio headquarters, where he received a call from Kiyomi Kasahara and learned that Hirose had kidnapped the baby Haruto Sawamura and disappeared.

Back in Onomichi, Yuta learned from Hirose and Masuzoe that he was Haruto's father and Lo's illegitimate son, as well as the heir to the Saio, the reason for his upbringing and their desire to kill Haruto. Yuta fell into despair until Kiryu persuaded him to help rescue Haruto. Afterwards, Yuta planned to murder Lo to avenge his deception. Back in Kabukicho, he set the Saio headquarters ablaze during his meeting with Lo, only for Kiryu to beat him to his senses and force him to play a role in Haruka's life. A guilted Lo told them of Hirose's involvement in the conflict, after which Date took Yuta to be with Haruka at the Touto University Hospital, where she lay in comatose state. He was present when Haruka regained consciousness, and he joined the rest of the Hirose Family in attacking Katsumi Sugai and Tsuneo Iwami in the Millennium Tower to remove the threat to Haruka and Haruto. He was stabbed near the top but rescued by Shun Akiyama, after which he recovered and helped free Kiryu and Nagumo from Iwami's hostage trap with Haruka and Haruto. Kiryu took several bullets fired by Sugai at Yuta, and Kiryu faked his death before Haruka and Yuta before Sugai shot himself.

In early 2017, after Haruka fully recovered, Yuta decided to move to Okinawa to live with Haruka and their son, as Lo defied Saio tradition and removed Yuta's status as heir.
