Yuhi V of Rwanda

Arcane: League of Legends - The Loop

Yuhi V Musinga of Rwanda (1883-13 January 1944) was king of Rwanda from December 1896 to 12 November 1931, succeeding Mibambwe IV Rutarindwa and preceding Mutara III Rudahigwa.

Yuhi Musinga was the son of King Kigeli IV of Rwanda, and he rose to power a sa teenager after a palace coup ousted King Mibambwe IV Rutarindwa from power. During his reign, he used nearby German forces to reassert royal authority over several autonomous areas, and he also used missionaries to extend court legitimacy. His collaboration with several European actors led to the formation of several factions at his court, and his reign was marked by World War I, the replacement of German rule by Belgian rule, the expansion of royal power to autonomous areas, and a major famine from 1928 to 1929. In 1931, he was deposed by the Belgian administration after he refused to convert to Catholicism.
