Ysevolod I of Novgorod (1030-) was the Grand Duke of Novgorod from 1080 until his death. 

Biography[]

Ysevolod was the husband of Maria of Novgorod, and in 1080 he became the Grand Duke of Novgorod. He set out to re-unite the fragmented states of the Kievan Rus, including Moscow, Ryazan, Kiev, and Smolensk, and sought to hold court in the true capital of Russia, Kiev. In 1084 he conquered Smolensk, while his son Mikhail of Novgorod expanded his lands to conquer Moscow.
