Younes Hamed

Younes Hamed (15 August 1959-) was Commander-in-Chief of the Egyptian Air Force from 14 August 2012 to 14 June 2018, succeeding Reda Mahmoud Hafez Mohamed and preceding Mohamed Abbas Helmy.

Biography[]

Younes Hamed al-Masri was born in Sohag Governorate, Egypt in 1959. He graduated from the Air Academy in 1979 and rose in the ranks of the Egyptian Air Force before President Mohamed Morsi appointed him commander of the Egyptian Air Force in 2012. He served on the SCAF military junta with the rank of Air Marshal and was appointed Civil Aviation Minister in 2018.
