Yosuke Ishiyama was a Japanese yakuza boss and drug tycoon who was based in Tokyo during the 1960s.
Biography[]
Yosuke Ishiyama was born in Kobe, Japan, and he became the head of the Ishiyama-gumi yakuza organization before becoming one of Japan's most powerful drug traffickers. He moved his operations to Tokyo during the late 1950s, entering commerce with Nomoto Enterprises. In 1963, he struck a ¥10 million drug deal with Tetsuo Nomoto, but the drug money was stolen from Ishiyama's man Shibata by the Sanko-gumi in an attempt to make it look like Nomoto Enterprises had taken the drugs and stolen back their money out of cheapness. Ishiyama confronted Nomoto over this and threatened to never do business with him again, but Shibata recognized one of the thieves as Joji Mizuno, who was working for Nomoto, enabling Ishiyama and Nomoto to resume their relationship now that their trust was restored.
