Yeonsu Kim (December 1986-), also known as Joongi Han, was a Korean-Japanese criminal who served as second-in-command of the Geomijul crime syndicate of Yokohama.
Biography[]
Yeonsu Kim was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1986 to a family of Zainichi Koreans. His father was affiliated with the Jingweon Mafia, and, after the Jingweon were destroyed by the Tojo-kai during the late 2000s, Yeonsu was abused by his alcoholic father. His father forced him to undergo plastic surgery to act as a body double for Jingweon leader Joongi Han, hoping to get closer to the boss. Han took Kim under his wing, seeing him as a brother and allowing him to operate Club Stardust in Kabukicho, Tokyo in his absence. After Han's death in 2016, Kim fled to Yokohama, having been turned away by other Korean communities due to his criminality. He joined Seonhee's Geomijul crime syndicate in Isezakicho, and he became Seonhee's right-hand man.
In 2019, Kim and the Geomijul became aware of a brewing gang war between the Seiryu-kai and Akira Mabuchi's faction of the Yokohama Liumang, compelling Kim to rescue Ichiban Kasuga and his friends from Mabuchi's prison. He later welcomed them at the Geomijul headquarters, where he explained to them the Geomijul's counterfeiting operation and showed them surveillance footage that proved that Mabuchi had initiated the gang war for his own gain. Kim and Seonhee turned on Kasuga's friend Yu Nanba, whom they recognized as the brother of an investigative journalist they had kidnapped, resulting in Kasuga defeating Kim in a fight. As Nanba was able to escape, he informed Bleach Japan and the Omi Alliance of the Geomijul's counterfeiting operation, resulting in the Omi assaulting the Geomijul hideout. With Kasuga's help, Kim reluctantly burned down the Geomijul's counterfeiting machinery and surveillance system rather than allow the Omi and Liumang to use them as leverage against LDP party chair Yutaka Ogikubo or as tools in their war for control of the city. Han also captured the Bleach Japan director Hajime Ogasawara, who, under unterrogation, revealed Bleach Japan's scheme to help the Omi conquer the Ijin Three. When Ogasawara was rescued by the invading Omi, Seonhee sent Kim to aid Kasuga in his quest to stop Bleach Japan and the Omi, and Nanba later rejoined Kasuga's party in time to help them defeat Mabuchi's coup against Liumang leader Tianyou Zhao. Han later learned that Seiryu-kai boss Ryuhei Hoshino's life was being targeted by Arakawa-gumi patriarch Jo Sawashiro, only for the party to be unable to rescue the boss before he was shot by Sawashiro. They were able to stop the assassin Mirror Face from killing Sawashiro, who was instead arrested by police and sentenced to life in prison.
In 2023, Kim took command of the Geomijul after Seonhee suddenly left her post, and he, Seonhee, and Zhao would ally themselves with Kasuga and Kazuma Kiryu during their battle against Masataka Ebina and a resurgent Bleach Japan. He joined Kasuga in Hawaii as his subordinate Yeona temporarily took the helm of the Geomijul in Isezakicho, only for Yeona to join him in Hawaii and for her replacement to do so as well, leaving the Geomijul perpetually leaderless for a year.
