Yemrehana II Krestos of Abyssinia (22 March 1072-1 January 1087) was the king of Abyssinia from 1084 to 1087, succeeding Kedus Harbe of Abyssinia and preceding Kedus II Harbe of Abyssinia.
Biography[]
Yemrehana was born in 1072 to the Miaphysite Christian Ethiopian Zagwe dynasty, and he was the son of King Kedus Harbe of Abyssinia and Theobronia. In 1084, his father committed suicide after losing the County of Massawa to Axum, leaving the 12-year-old Yemrehana to become the new king of Abyssinia in his place, with Dawit as his regent. During his reign, he fared no better. Axum continued to campaign against him, with King Dawit II of Axum seizing more of his lands in present-day Eritrea as well as giving the Duchy of Shewa independence by enforcing Maya'ir Makhzumi's claim to the duchy. He died on 1 January 1087 after a period of illness at the age of 15.
