Yellow Tavern

Yellow Tavern is an unincorporated community of Henrico County, Virginia. While it is located near Fairfield, it is considered on Google Maps to be a part of Richmond proper. The area was named for an abandoned inn which was the site of the Battle of Yellow Tavern on 11 May 1864 during the American Civil War, in which the Confederate general J.E.B. Stuart was killed in a raid by Philip Sheridan's Union forces. It is now home to several shopping centers and strip malls, and it is located along Brook Road and Azalea Avenue, two major thoroughfares.
