Yasuyuki Kataoka (14 June 1918 – 29 May 1945) was a colonel of the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II.
Biography[]
Yasuyuki Kataoka was born in Bungo Prefecture of Japan on 14 June 1918. He attended a war college in the 1930s and served as a junior officer in the Second Sino-Japanese War before transferring to Okinawa in 1944. During the 1945 Battle of Okinawa, Kataoka commanded Japanese mortar pits, and he was killed by United States troops when they captured the pits.
