Yamana

The Yamana clan was a Japanese samurai clan that originated in Tamba Province in central Honshu. During the Nanboku-cho period, it was one of the most powerful clans in Japan, and they held power as the constables of eleven provinces. The Yamana were descended from the Minamoto clan and once inhabited Tamba Province, but they would fan out to inhabit Kozuke Province and later Inaba Province. The Yamana clan was humbled by the Ashikaga in 1351 when their stronghold of Kameyaka fell, and in 1580 Toyokuni Yamana was defeated by Hideyoshi Toyotomi.
