The Yalu River is a river that marks the border between China and North Korea, and it was notable for its role in the First Sino-Japanese War, Russo-Japanese War, and the Korean War. On 17 September 1894, it was the site of the Battle of the Yellow Sea between the Qing dynasty and Empire of Japan; 30 April-1 May 1904 saw the Battle of the Yalu River between the Russian Empire and Japan, and 1950 saw the river mark the border of North Korea and China as well as the high water mark of the United Nations advance. Today, the Sui-ho Dam on the river is one of the largest hydroelectric dams in the world, and the river provides fish that is used as food for the Chinese and Koreans.
