Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy (23 January 1998-18 June 2018), known professionally as XXXTentacion, was an American rapper. He was extremely controversial due to assaulting fans, his publicized feuds with other rappers, and his offensive social media content, and he was killed outside of a Deerfield Beach, Florida motorcycle dealership in 2018.

Biography[]

Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy was born in Plantation, Florida on 23 January 1998, and he dropped out of high school in his sophomore year. In June 2013, he released his song "News/Flock", his first song. In 2014, he was sent to a youth detention center for a year on gun possession charges, and it was there that he met the rapper "Ski Mask the Slump God". Upon their release, the two planned to carry out a series of home invasions, but they instead turned to rap music. In July 2016, Onfroy was arrested and charged with robbery and assault with a deadly weapon, and he posted $10,000 bail. He continued to work on his debut independent album Bad Vibes Forever, but his album was postponed due to his rearrest for false imprisonment, witness tampering, and aggravated battery of a pregnant woman. In 2017, he re-released his song "Look at Me", which helped him gain more popularity. He was a popular figure in SoundCloud rap, and his debut album, 17, was released on 25 August 2017. His second album, ?, was released on 16 March 2018, with its singles "Sad!" and "Changes" debuting at high places on the Billboard Hot 100.

XXXTentacion became the most controversial rapper due to assaulting fans, public feuds with other artists such as Drake, and general social media scandals. On 18 June 2018, as he left a motorcycle dealership in Deerfield Beach, Florida in his car, a gunman ran up to his vehicle and shot him. The gunman and an accomplice fled in a dark-colored SUV, and the motivation was suspected to be robbery.His album titled "SKINS" was released in December 2018.
