Worker House is a socialist and progressive political party and national trade union in Iran, founded in 1958 as a union of workers' guilds. The party advocated workers' rights, adjusting to the political situation whenever needed; by 1981, the party was dominated by Islamist workers. The party adopted Islam as its religion that year, and the party claimed that a third of Iranian workers were members of the party by 1998. From 1981 to 1987, the party was the worker's wing of the Islamic Republican Party, but it would lose its state-supported status after confronting Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's theocratic government; it has been said that the party has depended on the government's support in the past. The Islamic Labor Party split from the main party in 1999. In 2017, the party held 3/290 Parliament seats and 1/31 Tehran City Council seats.
