Woodland is a neighborhood of downtown Oakland, California. Bordering Elmhurst, Woodland was serviced by the main highway and International Boulevard, and the neighborhood was subjected to poverty and crime. Graffiti, abandoned houses, and gang members were not uncommon among the run-down residential areas of Woodland, but, by the mid-2010s, Woodland began to experience gentrification as numerous businesses arrived in Fruitvale. The area was predominantly Hispanic and Black.
