Willis Alston (1769-10 April 1837) was a member of the US House of Representatives (DR-NC 9) from 1799 to 1803 (succeeding Thomas Blount and preceding Marmaduke Williams) and from NC-2 from 1803 to 1815 (succeeding Matthew Locke and preceding Joseph H. Bryan) and from 1825 to 1831 (succeeding George Outlaw and preceding John Branch).
Biography[]
Willis Alston was born in Littleton, Halifax County, North Carolina in 1769, and he served in the House of Commons from 1790 to 1792 and from 1820 to 1824, in the State Senate in 1794, in the US House of Representatives from 1799 to 1815 and from 1815 to 1831. Elected as a Federalist, he became a Democratic-Republican early in Thomas Jefferson's administration and later became a Jacksonian Democrat. He died in 1837.
