
William Wallace Wilshire (8 September 1830 – 19 August 1888) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-AR 3) from 4 March 1873 to 16 June 1874 (succeeding Thomas Boles and preceding Thomas M. Gunter) and from 4 March 1875 to 3 March 1877 (succeeding Gunter and preceding Jordan E. Cravens).
Biography[]
William Wallace Wilshire was born in Shawneetown, Illinois in 1830, and he spent 1852-1855 mining gold in California. He then returned home in Port Byron and engaged in coal mining and the mercantile business before becoming a lawyer in 1859, and he served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. He commanded a regiment in Arkansas during the war, and he settled in Little Rock during Reconstruction and served in the US House of Representatives from 1873 to 1874 and from 1875 to 1877. He went on to practice law in Washington DC until his death in 1888.
