
William Wiseham Paine (10 October 1817-5 August 1882) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-GA 1) from 22 December 1870 to 3 March 1871, succeeding Joseph Clift and preceding Archibald T. MacIntyre.
Biography[]
William Wiseham Paine was born in Richmond, Virginia in 1817, and his family moved to Milledgeville, Georgia in 1827. He served in the Second Seminole War and became a lawyer in 1838, and he served in the State Senate from 1857 to 1860, served in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War, moved his law practice to Savannah, served in the US House of Representatives from 1870 to 1871, and served in the State House from 1877 to 1879. He died in 1882.
