William Vans Murray

William Vans Murray (9 February 1760 – 11 December 1803) was a member of the US House of Representatives (F-MD 5) from 1791 to 1793 (succeeding George Gale and preceding Samuel Smith) and from MD-8 from 1793 to 1797, preceding John Dennis.

Biography[]

William Vans Murray was born in Cambridge, Maryland in 1760, and he served in the House of Delegates from 1788 to 1790 and in the US House of Representatives from 1791 to 1797; from 1797 to 1801, he served as President John Adams' ambassador to the Netherlands. He died in 1803.
