William Ripley Brown

William Ripley Brown (16 July 1840-3 March 1916) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-KS 3) from 4 March 1875 to 3 March 1877, preceding Thomas Ryan.

Biography[]

William Ripley Brown was born in Buffalo, New York in 1840, and he moved to Emporia, Kansas and became a lawyer in 1864. He served as a judge from 1867 to 1877, in the US House of Representatives from 1875 to 1877, as a lawyer in Hutchinson, as register of the US land office in Larned from 1883 to 1885, and as a judge in El Reno, Oklahoma from 1894 to 1898. He died in Kansas City in 1916.
