
William Mayrant (8 March 1765-23 January 1832) was a member of the US House of Representatives (DR-SC 9) from 4 March 1815 to 21 October 1816, succeeding John Kershaw and preceding Stephen Decatur Miller.
Biography[]
William Mayrant was born in Charleston, South Carolina on 8 March 1765, and he became an attorney and a successful textile businessman and rice plantation owner. He served as a militia colonel before serving in the US House of Representatives from 1815 to 1816, when he resigned after losing re-election due to his support for the Tariff of 1816. Mayrant died in Stateburg (Sumter) in 1832.
