
William Lewis Nugent (12 December 1832 – 19 January 1897) was a Confederate States Army soldier during the American Civil War. Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1832, he enlisted in the Confederate army in 1861. At the start of the war, he wrote of his desire to shoot a Yankee, although it would not be in harmony with the spirit of Christianity. He died in Jackson, Mississippi in 1897 at the age of 64.
