William J

William Johnson Bacon (18 February 1803-3 July 1889) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-NY 23) from 4 March 1877 to 3 March 1879, succeeding Scott Lord and preceding Cyrus D. Prescott.

Biography[]

William Johnson Bacon was born in Williamstown, Massachusetts in 1803, and he was raised in Utica, where he became a lawyer and city attorney in 1837. Bacon went on to serve in the state assembly in 1850, as a justice of the New York Supreme Court from 1854 to 1870, as a Court of Appeals judge from 1860 to 1868, and in the US House of Representatives from 1877 to 1879. He died in 1889.
