William I of Bures (1085-1 February 1142) was Prince of Galilee from 1120 to 1142, succeeding Joscelin I of Edessa and preceding Elinard of Bures.
Biography[]
William was a nobleman from France, and he arrived in the Levant before 1115 with his brother Geoffrey, becoming a vassal of Count Joscelin I of Edessa. In 1119, his brother was killed during a raid into Turkish territory, and he became Prince of Galilee when Joscelin becmae the ruler of the County of Edessa. The death of Eustace Grenier on 15 June 1123 led to William becoming the new constable of the Kingdom of Jerusalem, and he died childless in 1142. His nephew Elinard of Bures succeeded him as Prince.
