
William Higby (18 April 1813-27 November 1887) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-CA 2) from 4 March 1863 to 3 March 1869, interrupting Aaron A. Sargent.
Biography[]
William Higby was born in Willsboro, New York in 1813, and he became a lawyer in Elizabethtown in 1847. He moved to Calaveras County, California in 1850, and he served as a district attorney from 1853 to 1859, as a district judge from 1859 to 1861, and as a State Senator from 1863 to 1869. He later served as collector of internal revenue from 1877 to 1881, and he died in 1887.
