William Hale (18 November 1837-13 January 1885) was the Republican Governor of the Wyoming Territory from 22 August 1882 to 13 January 1885, succeeding John Wesley Hoyt and preceding Elliot S.N. Morgan.
Biography[]
William Hale was born in New London, Iowa in 1837, and he became a lawyer at the age of 21 and served as a Republican presidential elector in 1868. He served in the State House from 1863 to 1866, and he served as President Chester A. Arthur's Governor of the Wyoming Territory from 1882 to 1885. He died in office in 1885.
