William H. Roane

William Henry Roane (17 September 1787 – 11 May 1845) was a member of the US House of Representatives (DR-VA 12) from 4 March 1815 to 3 March 1817, succeeding John Roane and preceding Robert S. Garnett, and a US Senator from Virginia (D) from 14 March 1837 to 4 March 1841, succeeding Richard E. Parker and preceding William S. Archer.

Biography[]

William Henry Roane was born in Hanover County, Virginia in 1787, and he served in the House of Delegates from 1812 to 1815 and in the US House of Representatives from 1815 to 1817. He served on the executive council of Virginia before being elected to fill a vacancy in the US Senate in 1837, serving until 1841, when he lost re-election. He died in 1845.
