
William Fitzgerald (6 August 1799-March 1864) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-TN 9) from 4 March 1831 to 3 March 1833, succeeding Davy Crockett and preceding James K. Polk. Born in Port Tobacco, Maryland, he practiced law in Dover, Tennessee before serving as a circuit court clerk, in the state house from 1825 to 1826, as solicitor general of his district from 1826 to 1831, in Congress, and as a judge in Paris.
