William E. Lansing

William Esselstyne Lansing (29 December 1821-29 July 1883) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-NY 22) from 4 March 1861 to 3 March 1863 (succeeding M. Lindley Lee and preceding DeWitt Clinton Littlejohn) and from 4 March 1871 to 3 March 1873 (succeeding John C. Churchill and preceding Ellis H. Roberts), and from NY-23 from 4 March 1873 to 3 March 1875 (succeeding R. Holland Duell and preceding Scott Lord).

Biography[]

William Esselstyne Lansing was born in Perryville, New York in 1821, and he became a lawyer in Chittenango in 1845. He served as Madison County district attorney from 1850 to 1853, as Mayor of Chittenango from 1853 to 1855, as Madison County clerk from 1855 to 1858, and in the US House of Representatives from 1861 to 1863 and from 1871 to 1875. He died in 1883.
