William Anderson (1762-16 December 1829) was a member of the US House of Representatives (DR-PA 1) from 1809 to 1815 and from 1817 to 1819.
Biography[]
William Anderson was born in Accomack County, Virginia in 1762. He served on the staff of the Marquis de Lafayette during the American Revolutionary War, and he purchased a hotel in Chester, Pennsylvania in 1796. He became Delaware County auditor in 1804 and county director of the poor in 1805, and he served in the US House of Representatives from 1809 to 1815 and from 1817 to 1819. anderson went on to serve as an associate judge of the county court from 1826 to 1828 and collector of customs from 1828 until his death in 1829.
