
William Augustus Russell (22 April 1831-10 January 1899) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-MA 7) from 4 March 1879 to 3 March 1883 (succeeding Benjamin F. Butler and preceding Eben F. Stone) and from MA-8 from 4 March 1883 to 3 March 1885 (succeeding John W. Candler and preceding Charles Herbert Allen).
Biography[]
William Augustus Russell was born in Wells River, Vermont in 1831, and he was raised in Franklin, New Hampshire before working as a papermaker in Exeter. He and his father partnered to cofound a nationwide printing industry based in Lawrence, Massachusetts, and he became a member of the Lawrence board of aldermen in 1867 before serving in the state house in 1869 and in the US House of Representatives from 1879 to 1885. He later retired to Boston, where he died in 1899.
