Wiktor Lawitzky

Wiktor Lawitzky was a Polish Jesuit priest and the Papal nuncio to Russia from 1605 to 1612. In 1605, Pope Paul V sent Lawitzky to convert Princess Xenia Borisovna of Russia to Catholicism, and he accompanied Jan Piotr Sapieha on his invasion of Muscovy in 1612. Andrey the Spaniard rescued Xenia from Polish captivity in Moscow, preventing the establishment of a Catholic monarchy.
