Westmoringas

Westmoringas was an Anglo-Saxon kingdom in present-day Westmorland, England which existed in the 9th century AD. It was a rump state of Northumbria, emerging after the Danish Vikings invaded and conquered Northumbria and divided the region into Danish-ruled Northymbre and Saxon-ruled "Northleode". Under Wulfsige, Westmoringas separated from Northleode and became an independent Anglo-Saxon holdout, and it was threatened by the Gallgoidel Norse and Scots in the north, the Saxon Northumbrians to the east, Viking sea kings in the Irish Sea in the west, and the expansionist Danes in the south.
