West New York

West New York is a town in Hudson County, New Jersey, located across the Hudson River from Manhattan in New York City. The town was incorporated on 8 July 1898, and it was mostly Italian and German until the Cuban exodus of the 1960s, which led to the town's population being 78.08% Hispanic in 2010. Starting in the 1980s, the industrial areas along the waterfront were converted into residential and recreational areas. However, during the 21st century, MS-13 was active along Hudson Avenue and on the corner of Jackson Street and 66th Street, the 793 Beven Gang Bloods on 59th Street, and the Latin Kings along Jackson Street and other blocks off Bergenline Avenue. In 2010, the town had a population of 49,708 people, with 62.04% being white, 20.19% other races, 6.01% Asian, 5.61% multiracial, 4.6% African-American, 1.5% Native American, and .005% Pacific islander.
