Wesley Bolin

Wesley Bolin (1 July 1909-4 March 1978) was the Democratic Governor of Arizona from 20 October 1977 to 4 March 1978, succeeding Raul Hector Castro and preceding Bruce Babbitt.

Biography[]

Wesley Bolin was born in Butler, Missouri in 1909, and he was raised in Phoenix, Arizona from the age of six. He became active in the dry cleaning business before becoming a Phoenix precinct constable in 1938, as a justice of the peace from 1943 to 1948, as Secretary of State from 1949 to 1977, and as Governor from 1977 to 1978, finishing Raul Hector Castro's term after he was appointed Ambassador to Argentina. Incidentally, Bolin himself died in office in March 1978.
