Biography[]

Werner Ziegler was born in West Berlin, Germany on July 31st 1957. Werner's father was an engineer who helped to construct the Sydney Opera House. Following in his fathers footsteps, Werner became an engineer and later married a woman named Margarethe.

In 2003, Werner was secretly contacted to be head architect on an underground laboratory, not knowing its true purpose to be used to manufacture methemphetamine. Werner hired a crew of construction workers from Germany, who all arrive at a secret warehouse supplied with beds, food, toiletries and phones that was monitored 24/7 by Gus' men. Werner and his men resided at the warehouse while also working on the underground lab at the laundromat. Sometime during his construction work, Werner became friends with Mike Ehrmantraut.

A few months later, Werner disclosed private information about the underground lab to patrons at a local bar. When Mike confronted him about this, Werner apologizes and says nothing like that would happen again.

Werner later escaped from the warehouse one day and called his wife to inform her that he is in New Mexico on a job. He would later go to a TravelWire to send his wife money to come visit him. Meanwhile Mike began searching for Werner upon realizing he had escaped. At the same time, Lalo Salamanca was investigating Gus Fring's operations and would be led to Werner. Lalo contacts Werner under the guise as one of Gus Fring's men. On the phone, Werner gives Lalo detailed information about the underground lab's construction just as Mike catches up to him. After Werner is located, Gus plans to send a crew to kill him but Mike objects and says that he'll kill Werner himself. Mike drives Werner to a remote location in New Mexico at midnight. Mike makes it clear to Werner what he has to do with him as he calls his wife to tell her not to come to America. Werner then asked to look at the stars for a moment before he was shot in the back of the head by Mike.

After Werner's death, construction continued on the superlab until completion. Where the rest of the crew were paid for their services and sent back to Germany.
