Waverly O'Laughlin (1779-1844) was a colonel of the British Army during the Peninsular War.
Biography[]
Waverly O'Lauglin was born in Fethard, County Tipperary, Ireland in 1779 to an Irish family, and he entered the British Army in 1797 during the French Revolutionary Wars. O'Lauglin would become the commander of a regiment of line infantry in the army of General William Carr Beresford during the Peninsular War, and he fought at the Battle of Veiros in 1811 in addition to the capture of Badajoz and several other battles in Spain. After the war, he returned home and became a bookstore owner, dying in 1844.
