Waterloo Lambeth

Waterloo is a district in central London, England, located 1 mile east of Charing Cross in the borough of Lambeth on the south bank of the River Thames. It was marshland before being drained in the 18th century; the marshland is remembered in the Lower Marsh street name. Waterloo is connected to the Strand by Waterloo Bridge, from which it derives its name; Waterloo Bridge was, in turn, named for the 1815 Battle of Waterloo.
