Washington Union Station is a major train station and transportation hub in Washington DC. The station opened in 1907, and it became Amtrak's headquarters and the railroad's second-busiest station with around 5,000,000 riders a year. It is the southern terminus of the Northeast Corridor rail line, and, during World War II, it had a maximum daily ridership of 200,000 people.
