
Wasechun-Tashunka (1764-) was a Sioux war chief from the Sioux Territory who was the leader of the Sioux that captured Santa Fe in 1787.
Biography[]
Wasechun-Tashunka was born in Sioux Falls in the Sioux Territory, and was raised as a warrior. In 1785, at the age of 21, he became a war chief and was made commander of an army raised in his homelands. In 1785 he invaded Spanish-held New Mexico and captured Santa Fe, earning fame and skills.
