
Wardak (died 5 September 1986) was an Afghan Mujahideen leader.
Biography[]
Wardak was a commander of the Mujahideen in Afghanistan who led resistance to the Soviet Union's invasion during the Soviet-Afghan War. He was based out of Khost, the stronghold of Mullah Rahman, and in 1986 led a small troop of fighters against the Soviets in the Battle of Khost. In a battle in a small village near the Mujahideen camp, Wardak and his fighters fought Soviet infantry and APCs. He was shot in the chest by a sniper rifle and staggered for a second before falling dead.
