Wang Jing (?-260) was the Inspector of Yong Province under Cao Wei. Also an imperial secretary, Wang Jing rose up with Emperor Cao Mao against Regent-Marshal Sima Zhao in 260 AD, and died in the uprising.
Biography[]
Wang Jing was born in Qinghe Commandery, Ji Province. Cui Lin of Cao Wei nominated him to serve in the government, and he rose to become the Inspector of Yong Province, a battlezone in which Wei and Shu Han fought frequently. Wang Jing fought against Jiang Wei and his Northern Expeditions from 249 AD to 255 AD, when he was recalled to Luoyang by Emperor Cao Mao to become an Imperial Secretary after a near-defeat at the Battle of Didao.
In 260 AD, Wang Jing plotted with Cao Mao against Regent-Marshal Sima Zhao, who was usurping power from the Cao family. Wang Jing died in the defense of Cao Mao's throne room, with Sima Zhao cutting him down. Wang Jing expressed that he was happy to die then, because he would not live to see the "ruin of Wei".
