Walter Hampden Overton (1788-24 December 1845) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-LA 3) from 4 March 1829 to 3 March 1831, succeeding William L. Brent and preceding Henry A. Bullard. Born in Louisa, Virginia, the son of Thomas Overton, he was raised in North Carolina and Tennessee. Overton served in the US Army during the War of 1812, after which he became a major-general of the Louisiana militia and settled in Alexandria. He served in Congress before returning to his plantation.
