Walter Forward

Walter Forward (24 January 1786-24 November 1852) was a member of the US House of Representatives (DR-PA 14) from 8 October 1822 to 3 March 1823 (succeeding Henry Baldwin and preceding Andrew Stewart) and from PA-16 from 4 March 1823 to 3 March 1825 (preceding James S. Stevenson and Robert Orr Jr.), as well as United States Secretary of the Treasury from 13 September 1841 to 1 March 1843 (succeeding Thomas Ewing and preceding John Canfield Spencer). Born in East Granby, Connecticut, he was raised in Aurora, Ohio and Pittsburgh. He worked as a newspaperman and lawyer before entering politics, and he served as Minister to Denmark from 1850 to 1851.
