Walter Donovan (1881-1938) was a wealthy American industrialist and collector of antiquities.

Biography[]

Early years[]

Donovan was born in New York City in 1881. He was raised in a very wealthy family of Manhattan. Donovan met his wife during a vacation aboard the RMS Olympic in 1913. He and his wife lived in a wealthy apartment on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, New York City.

Search for the Holy Grail[]

In 1938, Donovan hired Professor Henry Jones Sr. but he was kidnapped and Donovan entered in contact with his son Henry Jones Jr. who traveled to Venice, Italy in order to find his father and the Holy Grail. Jones met her Austrian counterpart, Dr. Elsa Schneider.

Donovan secretly sympathized with the Nazi Party, communicating with Schneider regularly. Donovan was the leader of a Nazi expedition commanded by Standartenführer Ernst Vogel of the Waffen-SS.

Death[]

The fate of Donovan is still unknown; some theorists believe that he was betrayed by Schneider and left in the desert to die, while others believe he sipped from a false copy of the Grail and withered into dust. His wife was devastated when she discovered that her husband was a collaborator with the Nazis.
