Walter B. Jones Jr.

Walter B. Jones Jr. (10 February 1943-10 February 2019) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-NC 3) from 3 January 1995 to 10 February 2019, succeeding Martin Lancaster and preceding Greg Murphy.

Biography[]

Walter B. Jones Jr. was born in Farmville, North Carolina in 1943, and he was a lifelong resident of his hometown. From 1967 to 1971, he served in the US Army National Guard, and he worked as an executive with his father's business supply company. From 1982 to 1994, he was a registered Democratic Party voter, and he switched his party affiliation to the Republican Party in order to run for the US House of Representatives. Jones held libertarian-leaning tendencies, and he did not always adhere to his party's conservative political platform. He died on his 76th birthday in 2019.
