The Walloons are a Francophone ethnic group native to the Wallonia region of southern Belgium. The Walloons are closely binded to the French people due to their shared Catholic religion, language, traditions, and folklore, and they are descended from the Gallo-Romans with Germanic Frankish admixture. The Walloons are one of two main ethnic groups in Belgium, the other being the Dutch-related Flemish people. In 2017, the world Walloon population was around 4,000,000, including 3,240,000 in Belgium.
